It used to be that plastic surgery was exclusive to celebrities who had the money to pay to improve or alter their bodies but in recent years that has all changed. These days plastic surgery is incredibly affordable and the stigma that used to be attached to it has disappeared prompting men and women all over the globe to look to improve and change their bodies, sometimes on their lunch break. The obsession with body image in the media however is dangerous and it is important that if you are going to get plastic surgery, that you should do it on your own terms. If you’re considering altering your body then here are some things to consider before you take the plunge.
Are There Alternatives?
Very often people think that plastic surgery is the answer when in fact there are several non-invasive treatments available that can get you the same results, with less risk. I used to hate my fatty, cellulite-ridden legs, the result of 3 children, and was considering liposuction. I spoke to an excellent plastic surgery nurse Francine Oca who works at a clinic near my home, she told me that there were some excellent non-invasive options for me and I was sold, fast forward 2 months and I am cellulite free without a single scar.
Why Do You Want to Change?
This is one of the key considerations that you need to take into account before opting for plastic surgery, very often the problem that people have with their bodies is based on the opinions of others or a problem within their mind. If you have body image issues that are based in your mind or if you have a perception of what the ‘perfect body’ looks like then no amount of plastic surgery is going to make you happy. There is nothing wrong with altering your body if there is a part of it that you truly don’t like but before opting for plastic surgery you need to get to the bottom of the real issue.
Do You Have a Great Surgeon?
Once you have made the decision to go in for plastic surgery it is important that you don’t just find a good surgeon, you need to find a great surgeon, this is your body we are talking about and there is no room for error. When searching for a surgeon you need to cast your net wide, even if you need to travel in order to find them. You also need to pay close attention to the feedback that the surgeon has, speaking to other clients is the only way that you will be able to find out how good the surgeon is and speaking to clients who’ve had the same surgery as you are looking at is the best way to find out the truth. Every plastic surgery website will look great with great testimonials but these can be easily manipulated so don’t decide until you are sure.
